Episode 0: Sustainable Development Goals

Intro: Welcome to the preview of season two of 1000 Ways Green! The show where we are going to give busy people like you easy ways to help save the planet for our future generations, and try to save you money along the way. This season we are going to be focusing on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, which are a set of 17 goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all and how you can enact them in your day to day life.

For those of you who don’t know, I'm Patrick Shipway and the goals are designed to address some of the most pressing issues facing humanity, including poverty, hunger, inequality, climate change, and access to education and healthcare. The SDGs are not only important for developing countries, but for all countries, including developed countries, as they are interdependent and universal in nature. The SDGs are a call for action for governments, private sector, civil society, and individuals alike, to work together to create a sustainable future for all. The goal is to achieve these objectives in a sustainable way by balancing economic, social and environmental considerations. So this season we are going to look at each and every one and see what we can do using each as a lens to help meet these goals and be greener for our planet and the people we care about.

Next week, sustainable development goal number 1: no poverty. Until then; be green and be seen.
